What's Brewing?

I have quite the backlog of posts just waiting for me to get around to showing you, and so today I am going to get started with this little beauty.

This gorgeous image is from Saturated Canary and is entitled "Morning".  I have colored her with my Copic sketch markers and then matted and mounted her on a card front featuring paper from My Mind's Eye and a flourish die from Memory Box.

Summertime and the Living is Easy!

It's been a beautiful summer this year - lots of sunshine mixed with the right amount of rain, which means the grass is growing, and growing, and growing.  Everyone can probably relate to this image from High Hopes Rubber stamps called Bob Loves Grass.

For One Crazy Stampers inspiration month, I have colored the image with my trusty Copic sketch markers then matted and mounted it with paper from My Mind's Eye.  The sentiment was included with the paper pad, and matched the feeling of the image perfectly.

Weekend Warrior

I have a card to share with you today as well as a quick tutorial, but first the card!

This would be a great card for the special man in your life, whether it be for a birthday, anniversary or Father's Day.  The image and sentiment are from the Art Impressions Weekend Warrior set that I have colored with Copics, then mounted it on dp from My Mind's Eye.  The ribbon and brads are from my stash.

Card Recipe
Skin - E01, E11, E13
Shirt/Hat - BG72, BG75, BG78
Pants/Hat - B21, B23, B24, B26
Gloves/Belt - Y21, Y23, Y26, Y28
Mask, Belt, Tools - W4, W7, W10
Drill - R24, R29, R39
Shadow under hat - C2
Ground - C2
Hat, Boots, Hammer Handle - E21, E23, E25
Background - YG61

Now here's my tutorial and it's for everyone out there who is tried of nozzles on adhesive bottles always being plugged.  All you need to fix the problem is some baby bottle nipples and a small piece of double sided foam tape.  What?!!!

Purchase baby bottle nipples that are silicone ( because the liquid will not stick to it ), will fit small bottles ( not the large size ), and are for 0+months in size.  My first attempt at buying the bottle nipples was wrong, so learn from my mistake and don't buy the brand Nuby Veri Flo Non-Drip kind - they have the wrong tip.  The Gerber brand pictured above is great!

After removing the original lid and cleaning off any old remnants of glue from around the neck of the bottle, tightly wrap one ( or two layers - this will depend of the width of the neck of the bottle - experiment and you will soon figure it out ) of the foam tape around the neck, then press it firmly around the neck.  Next stretch the baby bottle nipple over the tape until it is well seated around the rim, and then press firmly around the neck, sealing the bond between the nipple and the foam tape.

Now you are ready to use your new and improved bottle of adhesive with no plugs.

The other benefit is that you will be able to do thin lines of adhesive, or with more pressure you can thicken the lines.
Once you are done using the bottle just make sure to leave a small drop of the adhesive on the very tip of the bottle, which will dry and seal the hole.

The next time you need to use the bottle just flick off the dried adhesive on the tip and proceed to use.

So easy to do and you will love the result!

By My Side

I seem to have a real lack of boys cards in my stock, and I am also on a quest to start using some of my stamps that have never seen the light of day, so the card today features one of my favorite images from Lili of the Valley.

Man's Best Friend has been colored with Copic markers, then matted and mounted on the card front featuring paper from My Mind's Eye.  Some jute ribbon, pearls created with a Viva Decor Pearl pen, and the perfect sentiment finish off the card.

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Sunshine Lollipops

The brutal winter weather has returned to Alberta today, and the long range forecast is not looking that great, so today's card features a bright summery image to remind us all that the warmer weather is coming!!

My image is the Mo Manning image Brady and Chloe, that I have printed on watercolor paper, and then painted with Distress Inks reinkers from Ranger.  The dp's are from Bo Bunny and My Mind's Eye, and the sentiment is from my stash.

A Very Scary Sight!!!

Wow, hard to believe but it's only a couple of more weeks until one of my favorite holidays will be here - I love Halloween almost as much as Christmas - the ghosts and goblins will be out prowling the streets.  My card this week features the adorable image Hazel from Whimsy Stamps Wee Stamps collection, and fits the theme for this months challenge at One Crazy Stamper.

I colored the image with Copics then cut it out with a Spellbinders die, then used an Antique Linen Distress Ink pad to color the background.  The edges of the die shape were also inked with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The dp is from My Mind's Eye Happy Haunting collection, which is also where the "Scary" word came from.  I used two Memory Box dies to cut the spider web and spider for the corner of the card front.  The hints of glitter on the spider were created with a Sakura Star Dust pen.

Autumn Rules!

It's a new month and that means that it's time to announce the new challenge theme for One Crazy Stamper, and for the month of October we are asking you to create a project with a Thanksgiving/Halloween theme.  To me October means the changing of the fall colors and taking time to thank family and friends for all the love and support they have shown each other throughout the year.  When I saw the images from Whimsy Stamps artist Sylvia Zet ( Wee Stamps ), I could see using them with the gorgeous fall colors that are all around us at this time of year.

This beautiful image is called Lomasi, which means pretty flower, which for me is the gorgeous sunflowers that bloom at this time of year.  I colored the image with Copics then tore the edges, and matted it on eggplant cardstock that also has a torn edge.  The dp is from My Mind's Eye, flowers are from Prima and the sentiment is from my collection of stamps.

LOTV Christmas Greetings

As promised a few days ago, here's another Lili of the Valley Christmas card featuring the new image "Festive Tree".  The LOTV images are just so adorable, and are so easy to color!

I have colored the image with Copic Sketch Markers, then cut the image out with a Spellbinder die - before removing the die I colored around the inside edge of the image, leaving the border a nice crisp white.  The gorgeous card front features paper from My Mind's Eye O Christmas Tree collection, white poinsettia from Wild Orchid, and a sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps.  Pearls, ribbon and a gold metallic pen add the finishing details.

Christmas Sharing

It's been a long time since I've colored up a Lili of the Valley image, but when the new Christmas images came out last month I couldn't resist adding a few new images to my ever growing collection.  This adorable image entitled "Squirrel Snack" was so enjoyable to color with my Copic Sketch Markers.

After coloring the image I cut it out with a Spellbinder die, then mounted it on a card front created with My Mind's Eye paper, layers of Spellbinders Moroccan Motifs that create the snowflakes, ribbon from the local craft store, and a Lili of the Valley sentiment.  Stay tuned as I have another card featuring a Lili of the Valley image completed and ready to post in a couple of days.

The Kid in all of Us

I'm still working on the kickin' the last of those nasty airline germs, so here's another card that I did prior to getting sick.

This is "Present Bear" from Nellie Snellen available at One Crazy Stamper.  I have colored the image with Copics, cut the image out with a Spellbinders Eyelets Circles die, embossed and inked the die shape, and popped up the result on dp from My Mind's Eye Merry paper pad.  The lace is from my favorite local fabric store, who carries an awesome stock of lace and ribbon ( so much stock that I can only go once or twice a year, cause it's hard to stop shopping ).

Flutterby!!

The weather here is dull and dreary - we are surrounded by Tornado watches, heavy rainfall warnings and more, so it was time to color up something bright and cheerful!!
This is "Darcy Dragonfly" another wonderful image from The Doodle Garden.

I've colored her with Copics and brought shimmer to her wings and the dragonfly with Smooch Pearlized Top Coat.  The image was cut and matted with Spellbinders Label 22 then popped up on 2 dp's from My Mind's Eye On the Sunny Side.  The sentiment is from an older My Sentiments Exactly set called Garden Faire, and the ribbon is from my stash.

Check out the wonderful images of Jennifer Nilsson of The Doodle Garden here.
