Colour Your World

Welcome to my Thursday post for One Crazy Stamper, and today I have a quick and simple tutorial to share with you using your Copic Markers.  Back when I first started my Copic addiction I remember someone telling me that you could use the markers to add color to photographs, so today I played and LOVE the finished result.  Amazingly easy to do and the results are gorgeous.  Here's the before and after photos.

The photos were printed on pearl (matt) paper.  Start with lighter colors - you can always add a darker color after.  The colors do not blend so just start light.

Adding more colors.

The above photo is the finished product, while the below photo shows the original with no retouches.

Below is the same photo printed in full color.

Now that I have tried this technique I think I can see more black and white photos in my future!  Love the finished look that highlights just the items that are important in a photo and it was so quick and easy to achieve.  Try it out and let me know what you think!

Countdown has begun

So today I have something a little different to show you for my One Crazy Stamper blog post - this is one of three advent calendars that I completed last month for friends and family.  I apologize for the poor quality photo, but I needed to get this one delivered before the end of November so that it could be mailed out, and as usual I didn't finish it until the last moment.

The base of the calendar is an older Kaisercraft kit, that you assemble and then decorate with your choice of paper, ink and embellishments.  After painting all of the pieces I choose dp from Simple Stories Cozy Christmas collection to decorate all of the boxes and the sides of the calendar.  All of the edges were inked with  Versafine Vintage Sepia, then the fun began.  I used a mix of embellishments to decorate the individual boxes including ribbon, brads, charms, buttons, Tim Holtz Idea-ology Countdown Charms, while the center scene was built with Tim Holtz bottle brush trees, and a bird bath ornament.

Let It Snow Greetings

Hard to believe but there are only 20 days left before Christmas arrives, and I don't know about you but I am not even close to being prepared.  Somewhere I need to find more time in the days!  I did finally get the chance to color and today's card is the final result.

My card features another adorable image from High Hopes stamps entitled Hope For Peace Snowy that I have colored with Copics.  Lately I have been seeing cards on Pinterest and blogs that show the image with white lines, so after I finished coloring the image, I took a Sakura white glaze pen and traced over all of the black lines - the finished result really gives a different look to the image.  The image was fussy cut, then adhered to the card front along with the sentiment that is a beautiful Tattered Lace die Liquid applique adds detail to the snow around the snowman base, and glitter added to the snowflakes of the sentiment add another element.  Dp is from Simple Stories.

Well, the weather outside is frightful, so the time to craft is delightful, and create I did - Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!!  We are in the middle of a major blizzard here in Alberta ( and I do mean all of Alberta!!!! ), major snowfalls, extreme winds and sooooooo cold ( with the wind chill it has been hovering around -36C all day ).  Brrrrrrr!!! Time for an adorable card to warm us up.

This is a delightful image from Penny Black that I stamped on watercolor paper and then painted with inks from Tim Holtz distress reinkers.  The die is from Memory Box, and the sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.

Jingle Penguins

Have I mentioned that I simply adore penguins, and as soon as I see a new image featuring these adorable critters I just have to add it to my collection.  Well guess what?!!!!  Stamping Bella recently announced their newest images and one of them just happens to have my favorites - this is Christmas Penguins!!!  So cute, you can just imagine them strutting their stuff to some Christmas music.

Here's another angle of the card so that you can see the acrylic.

For my One Crazy Stamper card today, I have colored the Penguins with my Copics, then fussy cut them and adhered them to the front of an acrylic and cardstock card.  The inside of the card features dp from Carta Bella's All Bundled Up collection, the twine is from my stash and the bells are from Marianne Designs.

Mr & Mrs

Where do the hours of the day disappear to - I fully intended to post this earlier today, but I was having to much fun painting the kits for three advent calendars!!  Almost finished the painting, so tomorrow will be spent cutting paper to wrap the drawers, and then on to the embellishing of the entire kits.  I will post photos when I get them all finished, but for today I have a beautiful version of one of my favorite Lili of the Valley images.

I have colored the image with Copics, then matted and mounted it on papers that have been inked with Antique Linen distress ink.  A gorgeous Memory Box heart die with added Prima flowers and glitter enhances the card front, and a simple sentiment completes the card.

Santa Stops Here

The snow has finally stopped today, leaving a white glistening blanket everywhere, which has put everyone is the festive mood already!  Hard to believe that it was a beautiful +10 on Halloween, but now the push is on to get those Christmas cards made and ready to send out.

This sweet image is from Lili of the Valley - I have colored it with Copics ( using the terry cloth technique to get the realistic fur ), then matted it on the card front that features paper from my stash (meaning it's an oldie from Making Memories).  Some ribbon, Polar White Flower soft, white liquid applique, and the Merry die cut finish off the card.

Snowman builders

Anyone who knows me knows that I adore penguin images, so when Lili of the Valley recently came out with some new images featuring my favorite little birds I just had to order them.  This sweet image is entitled "Penguin Pals" and I have colored it with non traditional colors using my Copic markers.

The image was cut out with a Spellbinder die, then mounted on paper from Simple Stories Cozy Christmas collection.  Ribbon from my stash and Stickles covered snowflakes help finish off the card, while the sentiment is also from the Simple Stories collection.

Blue Christmas

Wow, it has been awhile since my last post - school is now finished and I finally have some time to get back to coloring and creating.  Truth be told though, the card today is one that I completed earlier this year just haven't posted it until now.  But I have finally returned to my craft room, so expect to see more creations from me in the future.

I love monochromatic color schemes and pair that with a gorgeous Sugar Nellie image, you get a wonderful Christmas card.  The image entitled "More Hands Make Light Work" has been colored with Copics, then cut out and matted with a Spellbinder die.  The dp is from Carta Bella, and the funky parenthesis are a Simon Says exclusive Memory Box die.  The sentiment and snowflake die around it are from Whimsy Stamps.
