Dreaming of Being......

Wow, where does the time go - today is the last day of June already, and it's time for a new challenge theme at MayzyArt.  For the next fortnight we would love to see your project for Flights of Fancy!!!

This is Tire Swing Hailey available at MayzyArt's etsy site.   I have colored her with Copics, and cut the image out with Spellbinders Floral Doily.  The butterflies were cut with a Memory Box die, Spellbinders die and a Martha Stewart punch then layed onto the card front.  Check out the rest of the design teams beautiful projects and enter to win here.

It's a Giraffe ?!!!!!

Welcome to Team B's turn to showcase some of the wonderful images from The Paper Shelter.  Today I have colored up one of the giraffe images from the set "Funny Giraffes" available here.
I've teamed up the finished image with the cloud die from Memory Box, dp from Fancy Pants Baby Mine collection, and a sentiment and ribbon from my stash.
This weeks theme at The Paper Shelter is Punches and Dies, and once again The Paper Shelter is offering a terrific prize of $20.00 to spend on whatever you like at the online store, if you use one of their images.  If you do not use one of their images, you can still enter the challenge to win 3 of their images of your choice.

Winner and a Copic Tutorial

Welcome to Terrific Tuesday at One Crazy Stamper, and as promised last week, the winner of the prize of the two Stampavie stamps as chosen by Random.org is ............
#7 - Wendance Designs
Congratulations, please contact me at s.mclaughlin8@shaw.ca so I can get your prize to you.

This week I have a tutorial about coloring skin with Copic markers.  When I color with Copics I always start with the lightest color covering approximately 60% of the area, leaving the highlight area blank.  Using the middle color I recolor about 40% of the already colored area, and then finish with the darkest shade on 10% of the same area.
After the three colors are applied, blend them all together using the lightest color.
The following diagram shows some of my favorite color combinations for skin tones.

I have listed the colors that I have used for each skin tone, but there are many others options - what is your favorite skin color combination?  Do some experimenting with different color combinations and step outside of the box - you never know until you try, what wonderfully colorful results you can achieve!!!!  Have fun playing!!!
( PS.  Don't look too closely at my coloring on this page, as I knew that it was only to show you differnt skin tones, so I was not at all careful about going over the lines!!!!! )

Wishing you all a very happy day!!

May Flowers

Well, the ladies that attend my classes are finally breathing a sigh of relief. I had promised a couple of months ago to start designing an 8" x 8" calendar that would be displayed in a beautiful wrought iron stand up flip frame that I purchased from the local big box craft store. I frantically searched several stores to get enough of the frames, and then promptly put them aside to deal with later.

About two weeks ago I decided that the time had come to get busy on the separate pages, and have completed four pages so far.  Today I am sharing the finished May page.  The Copic colored image is Bella and Butterfly from Wild Rose Studios, an image I fell in love with awhile ago, but just recently purchased.  The dp's are an oldie from Cloud 9 Design called Bay Blossoms, glitter is from Making Memories ( another oldie ), flowers are Prima's, flourishe die is a Tim Holtz, and the butterfly is from Martha Stewart.  I will be posting other pages soon, and a photo of the finished calendar later, so stay tuned!!

Things with Wings

The theme for the next fortnight's challenge at Dream Valley is "Things With Wings".  For my card I used a stamp that a friend had loaned me featuring a little wood nymph which I colored using the palette method with my Copics.  The dp is from K & Company Julianne collection, while the die is from Memory Box.

This is my last challenge with Dream Valley, and while it is a sad day, I am thankful for all of the wonderful ladies on the design team that guided me through being part of my first dt.  The last year has been a wonderful experience and I wish the Dream Valley team all the best in the future!

Sundays With Crissy Challenge #30 - Tickets/Tags

It's time for me to present my card for this month's challenge at Sundays With Crissy, and the theme is Tags or Tickets.

This adorable dinosaur is "Back to School Bart", a digital stamp available from Whimsy Stamps here.  He's got his backpack on, so I've imagined him ready to take off on his summer vacation.  I made the card into a slider card so that he can run to catch the plane, bus, or train.  The dp is from the On the Go collection by Bo Bunny, and the ticket stamps are from Stampers Anonymous.  You still have time to enter the challenge to win digital images from Crissy Armstrong, so check it out here.

G2GLYS!! - MayzyArt Sponsorship

MayzyArt is the sponsor for the next fortnight at Friday Sketch Challenges, and the team was asked if they would like to participate - of course we all said yes!!!  I choose the image "Texting Teen", which I colored with Copics, fussy cut and mounted on layers of dp from Echo Park's "A Boy's Life" collection.  Being the texting wiz that I am ( not!!!! ), I googled for sentiments and came up with LU4E ( Love You Forever ), and G2GLYS ( Got to Go, Love You So ) - I think they suit the card's theme.
Hop on over to the Friday Sketch Challenge blog here, and check out the fabulous creations that both design teams came up with.

Style

Today was the first official day of summer, and I've had this card done for awhile and thought that today would be a great day to show it.  This is Sugar Nellie's "Trip to the Park" which I colored with Copics.  The dp, punch, and sentiment are all from my stash, while the Daisy border is a Memory Box die.
I hope that everyone enjoyed this first day of summer!!

Dreams....

Good morning everybody!!!  As I post this it is in the early hours of the new day - as usual I'm up late working on new projects, but most of all I had a wonderful evening coloring with some very special friends!!!
It's Terrific Tuesday time at One Crazy Stamper, and my card features a sweet Stampavie image by Penny Johnson entitled "Sweet Dreams".

The image is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa, then colored with Copics, with the light source being the candle.  Dp is from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found - Sunshine collection, the doilies are inked with either Walnut Stain, or Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, and the ribbon is from my stash.  An Impression Obsession Clear Rubber Stamp set "Dare to Dream" provides the sentiment.

Before I joined the dt for One Crazy Stamper I was lucky enough to be a guest designer and I created this card -
The image "Storybook Friends" is also from Stampavie, and as a special little surprise, One Crazy Stamper has provided this image for me to give away this week.   As an added bonus, I will also send the winner the stamp used to make this weeks card, so if you would like to win please leave a comment on my post today at the One Crazy Stamper challenge blog here.  The winner will be announced on my post next Tuesday.

Mayzy's Flamenco Dancer

It's time for the next MayzyArt challenge and this one is pretty easy - it's BLACK!!
There are all kinds of interpretations of the theme on display at the MayzyArt blog - the design team has really outdone themselves this time - check out all of their fabulous projects here.

For this fortnight's challenge I colored the image "Digi Dancers - Flamenco" all in black with white roses, and look at those fishnet stockings!!  The image was cut out with Spellbinders Label 14, and mounted on layers of dp from 7 Gypsies Paddington collection.  The fan is a Cheery Lynn die, that I embossed and then inked with white to show off the dragonflies.  The flourish on the top corner is also from Cheery Lynn, while the bottom left corner features a Memory Box flourish.  To complete the card I added pearls with a Viva Decor pearl pen, and an oversized black pearl brad as the fan center.
You have two weeks to enter the challenge and win digital images from MayzyArt, so hop on over and check out the rest of the teams projects, and then get crafting!!!

Just Being.... TPS #68

The Paper Shelter challenge this week is the ever popular ANYTHING GOES!!!

The very talented and generous Veronica and Pedro of The Paper Shelter are offering a fabulous prize of $20 to spend on whatever your like in their online store, if you use one of their gorgeous images in the challenge this week. If you do not use one of their images, you can still enter the challenge to win 3 of their images of your own choice.

The image is "Unusual Friends" and as usual I have colored it with Copics.  I choose to do a clean and simple style card this week, so other than the red sheer ribbon and the sentiment, my card is just layers of cardstock and pattern paper.

Honey Days!!!!

Time for Terrific Tuesday at One Crazy Stamper and this week I just could not resist coloring these two adorable images from CC Designs!!

This is Honey Bee-trice and Woodland Daisy colored with Copics in a most unusual color combination for a cute little bee.  I stamped and colored Honey twice, so that one of the images could be fussy cut and popped up on the original image.  The antennae and flower center have been flocked, wings have a coat of Smooch Top Coat Illuminate paint to make them shimmer, and the small flower centers and dots on the sentiment were highlighted with Stickles Fruit Punch.  The dp is from Teresa Collins Sweet Afternoon collection, while the bakers twine and flower are from my stash.  The white spots on her cheeks are done with Copics Opaque White.

You still have lots of time to enter for a chance to win a fabulous prize at One Crazy Stampers challenge blog, by following the monthly theme which is a Sketch.  Check out the rest of the design teams wonderful creations, and make sure to stop by the One Crazy Stamper brick and mortar store or the online store here, to find all of the wonderful products featured here, plus much, much more!!!

For a Special Guy

Father's Day is only one week away, so in honor of all our Dad's, this fortnight's challenge at Dream Valley Challenges is For a Special Guy projects.  Whether you are a cardmaker, scrapbooker, jewelry fanatic, etc we want to see your designs for that certain special guy in your life.  Once again there is a fabulous prize for the winner of the challenge, so check out the rest of the design teams inspirations and then join in the fun here.

For the challenge I created this card using images from three different companies.  I started by stamping the tree from Tattered Angels on light tan cardstock, then heat embossed the old truck from Stampers Anonymous in front of the tree.  The entire card front was then rolled up into a ball, flattened, torn, and finally inked with several colors of Distress Inks.  The sentiment from Technique Tuesday was heat embossed and distressed with ink, and then popped up on the card.

Flutterby!!

The weather here is dull and dreary - we are surrounded by Tornado watches, heavy rainfall warnings and more, so it was time to color up something bright and cheerful!!
This is "Darcy Dragonfly" another wonderful image from The Doodle Garden.

I've colored her with Copics and brought shimmer to her wings and the dragonfly with Smooch Pearlized Top Coat.  The image was cut and matted with Spellbinders Label 22 then popped up on 2 dp's from My Mind's Eye On the Sunny Side.  The sentiment is from an older My Sentiments Exactly set called Garden Faire, and the ribbon is from my stash.

Check out the wonderful images of Jennifer Nilsson of The Doodle Garden here.

Welcome to the Circus!

The second challenge for MayzyArt is live, and for the next two weeks we want to see your CIRCUS themed projects!!  Mayzy has some adorable circus images available, and I got to work with the Ringmaster - who better to welcome you to the circus!!

After some experimenting I made an explosion box featuring the Ringmaster image colored with Copics, fussy cut and mounted beside the tent flap, beckoning you inside!!  I've made explosion boxes before, but always with a flat top to decorate, so I had to figure out how to make the pointed top.  On the inside of the box, I used circus animal figures and a center platform to mimic the interior of a circus tent.

The dp is an older paper from Creative Imaginations Samantha Walker line.
Hop on over to the MayzyArt challenge here, get creative and enter to win free digital images from Mayzy's etsy site.
