Colorin' All Day Long

What do you do when the temperature dips and the snow just keeps on falling?   The weather here in Calgary went from a beautiful +13 to a blustery -14 over night, and we ended up in the middle of a winter storm warning with up to 25 cm of snow falling.  So what's a girl to do but invite some wonderful friends over for a full day of coloring and stamping!!!  I didn't get any cards completed but I colored a few images that will be featured soon.  Here's a sneak peak of what I am working on:

Today is another day of snow, so I'll be working on making these beauties into cards.  Hope you all have a great day!!

Saturday Night Coloring

What could be better than spending a Saturday afternoon and evening sharing good times with friends, while coloring and card making.  A few ladies spent yesterday at my place creating and I actually got a few projects finished.  A friend recently lent me some of her Stamping Bella images and here's the final results:

No sentiments yet, but these will be in my stash of cards for upcoming celebrations!!

Better a day late, then never

Okay, if you are one of the two friends who have added to your family this week you are not allowed to see these cards yet - and you both know who you are, so just click the back button right away, or you will have to practice your surprised look for when I do get these cards to you!!!

I have been spending the last few days working on two baby cards.  The card pictured here is for a really good friend who has become a Grandmama for the first time.  She loves the grunge or vintage look, so I distressed and inked the new K & Company Julianne paper to match the adorable teddy bear image I borrowed from another friend.  For the inside of the card I used the same grunged paper and stamped a beautiful sentiment from CC Designs Baby Sentiments.

The next card is for a friend who has been blessed with her first child, a beautiful little girl.  I kept changing my mind about which image to use, but finally fell in love with both of these adorable House Mouse Images, and since I couldn't decide which one was my favorite, I just had to use one for the inside of the card.  The lace is from my stash and the embossing on the white cardstock was done with a Crafts Too embossing folder.  The sentiments are from a Baby set from Cloud 9 Designs.

Eskimo Kisses

Here's my entry into One Crazy Stamper January "Love" challenge.  The image is from Stampavie from the talented artist Mo Manning, and is called Siku and Shiya, and can be purchased at One Crazy Stamper.  I colored the image with my copic markers and then made a shaker box with faux snow.  The dp is from Bo Bunny"s Crazy Love line - More than Words and Fudge and Flowers.

Here's a closer look at the shaker box -

Distress Ink Painting

I have recently started painting with Distress Inks - my inspiration has been from the Magnolia magazines in which they do such beautiful work, so here is one of my first attempts.  The image is from Stampavie and the sentiment is from Inkadinkado.  I used watercolor paper and an aqua brush with the following ink colors - scattered straw, faded jeans, tumbled glass, black soot, forest moss, antique linen, spiced marmalade and tea dye.  The papers and ribbon are from my stash.

Here's a couple of other cards using distress inks!!

This is one of my favorite cards using a Mo Manning image called Two tu-tus which you can purchase at http://www.digitalpenciltoo.com/  For this card I used my copic markers and exquisite paper from Kaiser Crafts Gypsy Sisters collection.  The flower and ribbon are from my stash and the pearls were created using Viva Decor Pearl Pens.

New Year, New Ideas

Allright, now I know how hard it is to post regularly - life just seems to get in the way and before you know it six weeks have passed.  I hope that everyone had a great holiday, and had time to relax with family and freinds.  For my New Years resolution I promise to post at least once a week, and keep in touch with everyone.

I decided that I should learn more about the digital images that I have been purchasing over the last few months, so I spent an afternoon learning how to merge, resize and flip images and this is the end result of one of my attempts.  The little girl and the polar bear are both CC Design images that I purchased from All That Scraps.  It is really hard to photograph white on white cards, but I have used several punches and the Viva Decor pearls to accent the snowflakes decorating the front of the card.
**I did it!! I've entered my first challenge at http://abcdtchallenge.blogspot.com/  - I think this particular card really suited the theme for this challenge -it's almost like I knew what the theme would be!!

This is another card that I recently designed using a Kraftin Kimmie image.  The embossing is from the Tim Holtz postcard embossing folder, that I inked and then tore into smaller pieces layering it onto the front of the card.  For the interior of the card I blended several colors of Distress Inks, and then heat embossed an image from Tattered Angels over the resulting paper.  I think this would make an excellent card for someone who is traveling, or for that special man in your life.

That's it for now, but I will be posting again soon, so stay tuned.
