Spooky!!

Hard to believe but Halloween is just around the corner, and I wanted to play with my Copics, so....... I pulled out a piece of acrylic and used my copic refills just like you would Alcohol inks from Ranger.  Once the acrylic was dry ( which with any alcohol based ink happens quickly ) I embossed it with the Cuttlebug spider web folder.  Using Art Glitter Cries Clear glue I highlighted the web with black glitter, and placed an extra large pearl brad in the web center.  The finished piece was attached to the card front with black brads, and the edge of the card front has been punched with Martha Stewart's spider web edge.  The spooky image is "Perfect Poison", one of my first Kraftin Kimmie stamps and was also colored with Copics.

Painting with Copics

This is a card that features the palette technique with Copic markers.  I wanted the finished image to appear softer in tones, so using a palette worked beautifully.  The squares of designer paper are all scraps and the leaf gems were recently purchased at the local big box craft store.

Embossing Challenge

Time for the next challenge on The Paper Shelter, and this week the theme is Embossing of any Kind.  The image I used this week is "In the 20's" from TPS.

The designer paper is from Fancy pants Designs "It's the Little Things" collection and the image was colored with Copics to match the paper.  The image was fussy cut, then layered onto a Spellbinders Beaded Oval  that was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The Sweet Girl sentiment was created on white cardstock with two Cuttlebug embossing folders, cut with decorative edge scissors and inked to emphasize the embossing.

If you enter the challenge and you used a Paper Shelter image, and you are randomly selected in the drawing, you could win a $15.00 gift certificate to spend in The Paper Shelter shop.  If your creation is randomly selected, but you did not use a Paper Shelter image, you could still win your choice of one digi image from The Paper Shelter shop.  Isn't that great!?  That means that everyone can play!

Ahoy Matey!!

The local big box craft store cleared out a whole bunch of jewelry items last month, so I couldn't resist the lure of the clearance call.  Included in my steals of the day was this pirate sword that I just knew I would find a use for someday - while my someday came along with the newest challenge from Dream Valley.  The sponsers this fortnight are OSCC and Sassy Studio Designs and we have a photo inspiration theme.

                                           Challenge 15
My card features "Pirate Penny" from Sassy Studio Designs and was colored with Copics.  I stamped pirate themed sayings onto chalk white seam binding, criss-crossed it across the card front and attached a bow that holds the sword charm plus a skull and crossbones charm.  Some faux stitching was added around the dp which was from my scrap paper pile.
Challenges I am entering:
Card Makin Mamas - #28 Go Digi

Vintage Birthday

Time for another Cuddly Buddly Let's Keep Creating Digi Challenge and the theme this time as chosen by Sharm is "Vintage, Distressing & Flowers".  For this challenge I got to work with Bits of Ivory digital images from artist Barbara Williams, so I choose Garden Glimpses 2 and Sentiments One

I printed out the sunflower image three times onto kraft cardstock and then colored them with Copics.  Each image then received a coat of Ranger's Distress Crackle Rock Candy Paint.  The base of the card was created with the following layers:
Card - brown cardstock
 Yellow cardstock
7 Gypsies Botanical paper - crumpled, torn, and inked
Kraft cardstock - crimped with an paper crimper and inked
Wide Cream ribbon and bow
The sentiments were also printed onto kraft cardstock, cut with decorative scissors and inked.  The three images were mounted onto the card with pop-up dots, and pearls were added to the top corner.
I am entering this card into the following:
Scrapbook Sisters - #50 Anything Goes
I Brake For Challenges - IBFCC8 Shabby Chic
